"They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer"

About Us
If you want to know what to expect when joining a church or group of people, find out what they value. What one values will tell you what they will exalt, what they will focus upon, and where they will invest their resources.
Our values are deeply held beliefs that make up who we are and where we are going. You will notice that our most important value is our first value. In everything we do, we want to live out the fact that it is about “Him and them, and not me.” From this value, extends all the others. That is why you will see all the other values as a subset of the first.
From Pastor Chris
Well, January 7th, 2024, was our last meeting at the old building. It took about 8 months, but a foundation was finally laid and now things are processing rapidly.
I know many of you are getting tired of not having a permanent home and I understand.
But as tiresome as it can get, it isn’t too much to deal with. It is all superficial. Where we meet is not important right now. What is important is that we do meet. The church is the people, not a structure.
Before I was senior pastor here, I said I didn’t care if we met in the rodeo grounds as long as we met. I still feel that way.
But take heart, this is only temporary. I asked this question last May: Could this be going faster? The answer is still maybe… a full year of wandering have slowly eroded the personal timelines we have in our heads. But this is a season. A LONG season, but still just a season. This is still our wilderness moment. The “promised land” is almost ready. Be patient. And it will not have taken 40 years to complete.
In the meantime, we need to continue to prepare ourselves as a body to be ready for a shiny new building. I truly believe that we are in a season that God has called us to, in order to grow in unity as a congregation and grow in faithfulness to Christ and commitment to this body.
A new building isn’t going to bring unity. That is the Holy Spirit’s job. A new building isn’t going to bring commitment. That is our job.
We have seen valiant efforts put forth to draw the community in but have not had the desired results. But that is OK. I believe God is affirming our desire to reach out and He is saying Yes to that but it is a “yes, but not yet.”
We are in a non-flashy season of simply meeting together, being present together, week-in, week-out and strengthening each other with our presence. We are called to meet together and pray for our congregation and pray for our community and pray Thy Will Be Done.
Do you have desires and dreams and hopes and visions for LC242? Then let’s pray about it together as a body that is striving to become more and more united. That is exactly what the 120 were whole-heartedly engaged in right up to Pentecost. Prayer. Let’s be about that.
Peace,
Pastor Chris
